Trinity Anglican College’s Year Five-Six boys’ cricket team was undefeated in claiming the ACT-Southern NSW School Cup in Canberra.

The Border outfit toppled ACT school Amaroo in the semi-final, before defeating favourite Aranda by 49 runs in the grand final.

“It’s a huge thrill, and still a little surreal for the kids,” coach Simon Fairall said.

“It means we’re now through to the top 16 schools in Australia.”

Trinity will play in the National School Cup finals at the MCG on December five.

The school’s effort to win was even more meritorious considering the players left at 4am for Canberra.

The boys also showed tremendous sportsmanship by volunteering to shake the hands of their opponents prior to the final.

It continues a fine year for many of the players, who also featured in another statewide event, claiming the Paul Kelly Cup.

Trinity’s girls team was also competitive.
