Wines of the King Valley will host the La Dolce Vita wine and food festival on November 19 and 20.
King Valley wineries will offer tastings of new release and museum release wines, authentic cuisine prepared by Nonna or a renowned North East chef, live music, roving entertainers, competitions, children’s activities and masterclasses.
Festival-goers need to buy a festival ticket – which includes a tasting glass to take home – and visit 11 participating wineries throughout the region.
Wines of the King Valley marketing officer Alison Lloyd said the festival was a showcase of the King Valley’s premium produce and experiences.
“This is an opportunity to experience life in the King Valley the way we know it – time with friends, family and great food in a beautiful setting,” she said.
“The chance to discover a new favourite wine is always exciting too – here you get to speak to the person who grew the grapes and made the wine.
“It’s such a lovely day out; I highly recommend using your ticket across both days and trying to visit every one of our 11 unique wineries.”
Participating King Valley wineries are Brown Brothers, Chrismont, Dal Zotto Wines, Darling Estate Wines, Francesco Wines, La Cantina, Merkel Wines, Pizzini Wines, Politini Wines, Sam Miranda and Symphonia Wines.
Ms Lloyd said the region was well known for its Italian varietal wines such as prosecco, pinot grigio, arneis, sangiovese and nebbiolo.
“The valley offers a great environment for growing high quality wine grapes, as well as an enviable lifestyle enjoyed by the winemaking families," she said.
The festival will offer a range of children’s activities such as face-painting, bocce on the lawns and gelato.
Milawa winery Brown Brothers will offer a Spring Wine and Food Festival opening dinner on Friday, November 18.
Australia’s only hatted indigenous chef Clayton Donovan and Brown Brothers executive chef Douglas Elder will collaborate on the special dinner.
They will offer a four-course dinner, incorporating local produce with an indigenous twist. Sparkling wine and canapes will be served on arrival, followed by a three-course meal with matching wines.
Bookings essential for the 6.30pm dinner.
