Strong performances from opener Paul Munro (43) and unbeaten knocks from Aidan Ryan (76) and Rohan Pearce (69) ensure the Rangers wouldn't be caught napping like they were against Yackandandah last week.
But it wasn't necessarily plain sailing for the Rangers.
Despite the strong start from Munro, their innings was teetering at 4/80 when Pearce joined Ryan at the crease.
The rest, as they say, is history.
“Rohan and Aiden were brilliant,” Baranduda captain Vince Moran said.
“They built that innings exactly the way you should, working singles and twos and backing themselves against the bad balls when they came.
“I wouldn’t change a thing about how they went about it.”
Pearce proved to be a valuable inclusion after missing round one, while Craig Scammell and Mitch Ryan also rejoined the side.
The Rangers’ benchmark of 225 was a daunting one to hunt down in 40 overs, but the Power made it clear they weren’t going to go into their shell.
While the early loss of Greg McClennan for just 5 was costly, the likes of Chris Hocking (30) and Damian Jenvey (41) got Mt Beauty off to a good start.
When Daniel Saville notched his half-century, runs were coming thick and fast and it looked as though the Power were in a position to snatch a surprise win.
But Mitch Ryan struck, removing Saville and Jenvey in the same over and leaving the Power bereft of momentum at 4/135.
Despite the efforts of veteran Ashan Ranaweera (29) and Jake Styles (16), the Rangers did enough to manufacture a win.
“There was a real difference in effort from last week to this week,” Moran said.
“We got a full effort in the field, that was the main difference between the two games.
“We adapted to playing the one-day game a bit better, we looked after the boundary and the boys were running ragged trying to stop singles.
“The Power got off to a great start, they would have gone for 10 an over early on, so to peg them back was really encouraging.”
There were few surprises elsewhere in the District competition.
Kiewa scored a convincing win over Howlong, guided by a half-century for Jason Bartel and five wickets for Ryan de Vries.
Barnawartha-Chiltern were strong winners over Bethanga, Eskdale toppled Wodonga and Dederang edged out a gutsy Yackandandah.
