The group in a sea of red and blue clothing and balloons walked from Gateway Village as part of the Albury Wodonga Ethnic Communities Council’s inaugural Walk Together event.
Chairman Teju Chouhan said cars beeped their horns in support as the large group walked along beating drums and cheering with enthusiasm.
“There was a lot of excitement and appreciation and it was great to see two or three generations of families attending,” he said.
“It was a really wide variety of people from across the culture … we’re hoping next year will be bigger and better.”
