The money comes from the Stronger Community Grants Program, set up as part of the merger of Corowa and Urana shires to bankroll worthy projects.
In total 18 initiatives have been funded in the first stage of the program, with a second round to occur next year.
When merged with other cash and in-kind contributions the 18 projects are worth $941,347.
The Rennie Netball Club will receive $50,000 to go towards its $140,000 rural community hub.
That same amount is going to Rand’s community playground, the Mulwala Pioneer Museum and Corowa-Rutherglen Football Netball Club.
The club’s netball board representative Rowena Black said $112,690 would be spent on a new netball court at John Foord Oval.
“Since the Ovens and Murray introduced the under-16 teams four or five years ago we’ve needed to have another area to train,” Mrs Black said.
“It’s really difficult having four teams to train at the one time.”
Mrs Black said most of the other cash for the project came from club sponsor Rivalea, with the new court to supersede the existing court for matches.
Yarrawonga Mulwala Historical Society secretary Bruce McKean said $52,321 would be spent on making its Pioneer Museum more comfortable through better heating and cooling.
The former indoor cricket centre will also have fluorescent lighting replaced by LED illumination.
Other Corowa recipients were its rugby club ($9000 for clubroom improvements), lawn tennis club ($15,000 for a fence), cricket club ($49,000 for net and seat upgrade), racecourse ($47,300 for a water line), Landcare ($3000 for renewable energy forum) and historical society ($20,000 for Federation Museum security).
Howlong Football Club received $40,000 for a clubroom upgrade and Urana’s hall, skate park and bowling club also benefited.
