Debra Leanna Fabik came to police attention due to her erratic driving on the Great Alpine Road in Wangaratta on August 27.
Officers pulled over her Cherry station wagon about 2am and she returned a blood alcohol reading of 0.206 about 30 minutes later.
Defence lawyer Sally Wilson told the Wodonga Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday her client had broken up with her husband, leaving her homeless and out of work, before the incident.
“It's very lucky she's here and so are other people,” she said.
Ms Wilson said she was having financial problems after the break-up.
Magistrate Ian Watkins said it had been “an extremely high reading” and it was only good luck, not good management, no-one had been killed or injured.
Fabik's licence was cancelled for 20 months and she was fined $1079.50.
