Member for Albury Greg Aplin said the school would receive $3500 from the NSW Government for the project.
Principal Sharon Julien said the patch would be formed by the end of the year with planting in the new year.
“We’ve wanted to find a way of getting our community into the school and a community garden seemed a good way to do that,” Mrs Julien said.
“It will allow boys and girls to understand where their food comes from and get something that is home-grown.”
Mr Aplin said Albury West would join six schools in the city with such a garden.
He said there would be an emphasis on bush tucker to reflect the high Indigenous numbers at Albury West.
