It will be Dicketts’ second stint in the Tallangatta and District league after he led rival club Dederang-Mt Beauty from 2007 to 2009.
Dicketts will take over from Simon Hillier who has returned to Henty after guiding the Blues into this year’s grand final against Thurgoona.
“It probably wasn’t something I had thought a lot about but after living around here for long enough you can see Mitta United is a successful and professional club and it will be good being a part of that,” Dicketts said.
“I’m looking forward to it.
“After coaching Albury’s thirds a couple of years ago, it’s something I still enjoyed doing and I felt it was the right time to get back involved.”
Following a successful playing career at Albury, Dicketts coached Bright to the 2004 Ovens and King league flag.
He then took Dederang-Mt Beauty to the 2008 grand final where the Bombers lost to Kiewa-Sandy Creek.
Dicketts assisted Albury’s reserve grade coach Tom McGrath this year.
Mitta United recruiting manager Phil Packer said Dicketts’ experience and communication skills appealed to the Blues.
“We’re rapt he picked us over a couple of clubs,” Packer said.
“He’s very experienced and communication with players is something we see as very important.
“Mark has coached before and I think that’s always handy.”
Midfielder Nathan Reynoldson will be Dicketts’ assistant.
Mitta United has lost Brent Olsen (overseas) and Hillier (Henty) from its grand final side but is close to unveiling several recruits.
Tallangatta is the only TDFL club yet to appoint a senior coach.
