The underdog toppled The Rock Yerong Creek by 5 wickets, with a stack of teenagers starring.
“We had one bloke in the side over 21, and it was a great game as The Rock had young blokes as well,” Holbrook president Bill Heriot said.
“Corey McCarthy is our current under 16’s captain and he hit the winning runs off the last ball, last year’s skipper Cooper Walsh took 3 wickets, while Coby Ross made 42 at number three.
“We only won the one game last season, so it was great the way the guys applied themselves.”
Holbrook will host Osborne, with the classy Harry Perryman making 27 runs, and snaring 3-20 in the thumping win over Culcairn
And it doesn’t get any easier for Culcairn as it’s home to Henty.
Henty, which toppled Osborne in the grand final, had the first-round bye.
