The prediction was provided as the network prepares to be rolled out initially in west and central parts of the city starting in a fortnight.
Resident and business information sessions are also planned this week to help with the roll out.
A Connect Roadshow was set-up in Wodonga Plaza on Monday and will be open until November 20.
The Cube will also host residential and business expos on Tuesday and Wednesday respectively between 3pm and 6pm.
NBN spokesman Michael Moore said the Connect Roadshow and other events would provide everything the community needed to know about the service.
"People can look at the interactive screens and find out when they are going to get the NBN," he said.
"The NBN is delivering fast broadband speeds and reliability people never had before.
"Whether you are running a business where you need to market online or have business conferences online.
"The NBN team will be on hand to answer any other questions people might have.
"But the best thing people can do is get on the NBN website."
Mr Moore downplayed any concerns about delays in the NBN rollout.
"We've got a construction schedule and we want to get eight million connections by 2020," he said.
"Sometimes it will be quicker in some areas and slower in others."
The NBN rollout in Albury is already under way and is expected to be fully completed by July next year.
Wodonga Council's economic development manager Adam Wiseman said the NBN switch-on would be a major boost.
"It is going to be great for business and the community," he said.
"It gives businesses an opportunity to relocate regionally and be on the same level as businesses in metropolitan areas.
"It is one of the things businesses are looking for.
"With this rollout it is a really positive thing for Wodonga to have some key industries relocate here into the future.
"Our key sectors, including the health, education, manufacturing and professional services, will benefit from the opportunities it will bring to the region, not to mention the boost it will provide residents in keeping connected to family and friends and having key information at their fingertips."
Connect Roadshow visitors can use large interactive touchscreens to check whether the NBN is available at their address and to find out which peed tier is recommended for their household.
