Despite taking a new-look side into this season’s pennant, the Bulldogs’ depth has stood up early by posting three successive wins.
Peter McLarty led the way with a 22-11 victory over Civic’s Scott Widdison.
He had control throughout the match with Fred Baldock playing well as lead on debut.
Ashley Bates edged out Danny Webb 20-17.
Despite having a limited preparation this season, third Kylie Whitehead was in sparkling touch for the victors.
Corowa Civic won the remaining rinks with Thomas Webb edging out Paul Davis 23-20 and Max Scanlan defeating Mark Coulston 23-19.
Bates said it was a strong all-round performance.
“The side is going pretty well at the moment,” Bates said.
“There are a few new faces and everyone is doing their bit.
“Corowa Civic is one of the stronger sides so it was a good win.
“It was a high standard game in fairly windy conditions.”
Wodonga and Yarrawonga are the only undefeated teams after three rounds of pennant with the sides set to clash in several weeks.
While the top two are firing, Benalla continue to struggle with the line-up going down to YMGCR 95-74.
It has been a testing start to the season for Benalla who were expected to take beating after picking up several top-line recruits.
Wangaratta won a hard-fought clash against Rutherglen 98-86.
Trevor Selwood was the difference between the sides with the skip posting a comfortable victory over Bill Campbell.
Ian Brimblecombe and Maurie Braden won their rinks by five shots.
Rutherglen stayed in touch through Chris Langdon’s impressive win over Greg McDonald.
“It’s good to get a win on the board,” Braden said.
“We needed one.
“Trevor Selwood had a really big win to give us some breathing space.
“It keeps us around the mark.”
Yarrawonga proved too strong for Myrtleford, winning 108-77.
