Based on the novel by Gregory Maguire, that ingeniously re-imagines the stories and characters created by L. Frank Baum in The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, WICKED tells the untold story of the witches of Oz.
The misunderstood Elphaba and the very popular Galinda, who meet as students at Shiz University and begrudgingly become roommates, set the main storyline of the show.
An unlikely friendship develops between the two girls, who eventually go on to fulfil their destiny as Elphaba the Wicked Witch of the West and Glinda the Good Witch of the South.
Following a disastrous meeting with the Wonderful Wizard of Oz, suddenly, Glinda and Elphaba’s lives change forever, which see them take very different paths and subsequently has shocking consequences for Elphaba’s future.
“We need two strong leads as our renowned witches, you really need to be able to belt out a tune, and if that’s you, please contact us” says AWTC’s Joseph Thomsen.
The original Broadway production of WICKED was nominated for 10 Tony Awards in 2004 and in a truly global phenomenon, it has gone on to be staged all around the world.
All roles in the show are now open, and auditions will be held on December 3 and 4.
