The 53-year-old, who has lived with the debilitating effects of multiple sclerosis since 1998, is the newest shed member but has already put his time to good use.
After finishing up at work in 2002 and surrendering his licence five years ago, Mr Reynolds admits he’d become a bit of a loner and increasingly socially and physically isolated.
But after checking out a recent expo at the Albury Showgrounds, Mr Reynolds was interested in getting involved.
“I was a bit scared at the start,” he admits.
“But the guys were all terribly welcoming and my wife reckons I’m now a different person at home.”
Initially Mr Reynolds felt he lacked the skills and physical dexterity to take on a project but that attitude doesn’t last long at the shed.
With many hands ready and willing to share their knowledge, a new viking outdoor chess now stands ready for painting – and Mr Reynolds couldn’t be prouder.
