FOR Tracey Bastin, being a funeral director isn't just a job – it's her life.
The new manager at the Albury-based John Hossack Funeral Services said it was a career she had dedicated her life to.
"I'm honoured to be able to take care of families at probably the worst time in their life – to be able to assist them to honour their loved one," she said.
While Ms Bastin is relatively new to the area (she moved here with her family for this role and the appeal of the region), John Hossack Funeral Services has served the Albury-Wodonga and district community for more than 75 years.
The company was purchased by the Brindley family, of Walwa, in 1991.
Ross Brindley began working in the funeral industry more than 35 years ago.
The company was originally based in Olive Street, Albury.
Ross then purpose built the current location at 435 Wilson Street in 1996.
The building features a 200-seat chapel, on-site catering facilities and car park.

Ms Bastin was employed as manager upon Ross's semi-retirement and she started in the role about four months ago.
She brings extensive knowledge and experience in the funeral industry and is passionate about providing exceptional service for families.
For Ms Bastin, a personal approach is key.
"Funerals can be anything families want them to be," she said.
She said it was important to focus on personalising funerals for the family "doing the things that make it something special".
While John Hossack Funeral Services features the chapel on site at Wilson Street for use by families, funerals can be held wherever families wish them to be held.
As well as the Albury location, John Hossack has offices in Howlong, Corryong and, incorporating Ovens Valley Funerals at Beechworth.
There is also information available about pre-arranged funerals, with the aim of ensuring wishes are met and to ease a family's burden during a time of emotional stress.
