Several North East schools were evacuated and placed under lock down on Thursday after receiving bomb threats over the phone as similar scares occurred across the state and nationwide.
Myrtleford’s St Mary’s Primary School was evacuated in the morning but students had returned to class by noon.
Wangaratta West Primary School students were also evacuated and its principal Craig Johnson met with parents to brief them about 2pm.
Albury High School’s senior staff opted to lock down the school, with classes resuming after lunchtime.
A police spokeswoman confirmed a number of schools across Victoria received a threatening phone call.
“Those schools have enacted their emergency management plans as a precaution,” she said.
The scares resembled similar hoax calls which resulted in evacuations and lock downs across the North East in February.
