Teenager Arjun Nair debuted for NSW in the Sheffield Shield last season.
“Arjun’s a mystery spinner, he bowls right-arm offies, but he can spin the ball both ways, and is quite tricky to read,” Thunder team-mate Nathan McAndrew said.
Nair is coming off a phenomenal performance in Sydney Premier Cricket, snaring 8-17 from 19.3 overs.
He taught himself to bowl a doosra by studying YouTube videos of West Indian Sunil Narine.
Nair and McAndrew will be among a group of the Thunder’s young guns looking to make an impact.
“It’s a chance for everyone in the squad to show what they can do, ahead of the first game against the Sixers,” McAndrew said.
The Thunder will play the Stars in two T20 matches at Lavington Oval on Tuesday, December 13, with the womens’ teams to play for competition points.
