The Carrier has become a linchpin in the Albury Wodonga metal scene during the past year, hosting monthly metal nights featuring some of the best bands the Border has to offer.
The December metal night is one with a twist.
It will feature Wollongong-based Saralisse and Canberra’s Beast Impalor along with Border outfit Dread the Winter.
Dread the Winter have been building their Border following for several years.
They started life as a hard rock cover band before evolving their own style of melodic progressive death metal and writing their own material.
Saralisse and Beast Impalor are not your usual heavy metal bands, they instead focus their songs on tales of folk lore and fantasy.
The bands have their own stories and characters they incorporate into their music with Saralisse telling tales of long boats mounted to dragons questing through space and Beast Impalor sharing stories of goblins, bears and darkness.
Saralisse are a four piece fantasy/folk metal band inspired by the music they enjoy listening to as well as books, films and other genre's of music.
Not your typical metal act, Saralisse features large orchestral elements and fantasy imagery and costuming to set the tone for a night of fun no matter where they play on a lineup.
They bring a a refreshing, majestic sound which includes elements from all branch's of metal including extreme, folk, progressive, doom, technical, epic, melodic and thrash.
Beast Impalor draws its inspiration from murky swamps and damp dungeons.
The band takes tales of mythical monstrosities to form the ultimate carnival of damnation on stage.
The two bands have played together across Australia, but the Wodonga gig will be Beast Impalor’s the first Victorian show. Beast Impalor recently played at the Wizardsfire Folk Fest in Brisbane and was preparing for its exciting battle against frenemies’, they said on their Facebook page.
They have taken the unusual tact of promoting the show as a head to head style battle to further add to the fantasy dynamic, encouraging wiling audience participants to join in and don their own costumes to add the atmosphere.
