Wodonga Senior Secondary College theatrette was buzzing with talent auditioning at the weekend for coveted roles in the Albury Wodonga Theatre Company’s 2017 production of the mega Broadway musical, Wicked.

Based on the novel by Gregory Maguire, that creatively re-imagines the stories and characters created by L. Frank Baum in The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, Wicked tells the untold story of the witches of Oz; Elphaba the Wicked Witch of the West and Glinda the Good Witch of the South.
“We had over 160 actors, dancers and singers audition for eight leading character roles, a large ensemble and vocal chorus over three days,” AWTC choreographer Susan Vaccaro says.
“People auditioned from as far as Perth … quite a few also emailed in video auditions.”
The cast will be announced by the end of of this week, and rehearsals are scheduled to begin in late January.
Wicked will be staged at the Albury Entertainment Centre in May.
