Skiiers will compete in slalom, trick and jump events on Gateway Lakes this Saturday and Sunday, with a number of local juniors hoping to make an impact in the hard-fought competition.
Albury-Wodonga Water Ski Club president David Finnimore said hosting a major event like the Malibu series would be a great boost for the home-grown hopefuls.
“It's a series based on ability, not age,” he said.
“In some cases you'll see parents going up against their kids.
“You do one round of each discipline each day, it means that even if you have a bit of a shocker in the first round you aren't out of the game.”
Daniel Finnimore, Mitchell Laws and Lachy Butlin will be out to make a mark in the junior men's ranks, while Yarrawonga's Layne Moroney will feature in the junior women's events.
Competition starts from 8am each morning, and admission is free with catering available also.
