The Swans-Saints showdown will be the final match played in the pre-season competition on March 12 with a start time of 7.10pm.
Last year, Richmond thrashed a second-string Port Adelaide team in an afternoon match broadcast by Fox Sports.
It was the first AFL match at Lavington broadcast live since the early 1990s.
Albury Council, which owns Lavington Oval, confirmed additional lighting would be needed for the Sydney-St Kilda match to satisfy broadcaster, Fox Sports.
“The AFL will facilitate additional lighting at the Lavington Oval,” an Albury Council spokesperson said.
“The cost is unknown as any commercial negotiations are conducted by the AFL with its supplier.
“Albury Council will assist with logistical services and venue operations such as traffic and waste management and arena preparation for the venue.
“Catering services will be put out for expressions of interest in the new year.”
The Lavington lights were upgraded to 500 lux soon after Albury Council purchased the ground in 2009 from the Panthers Entertainment Group.
The upgrade cost $500,00, but it still wasn't to a level to be able to broadcast a match at night.
Supplementary lighting was required at the ground in 2011 so Channel Nine could broadcast the City versus Country rugby league game.
Lavington Oval has since hosted National Rugby League and A-League soccer matches for premiership points which was television live on pay-television.
They both started in late afternoon timeslots.
Lavington Oval is about to undergo an $8 million revamp which will include a major upgrade of the existing facility and creation of secondary playing field.
New change rooms to meet AFL standards will be created and media, coach and timekeeper areas will be incorporated into a grandstand extension.
But no lighting upgrade on the main oval is planned.
