Cummins has been named in Sydney Thunder’s squad for Tuesday night’s Border Bask at Lavington Oval with Hussey wary of the young tyro’s strike power.
“He’s right up there with the quickest guys I've faced,” Hussey said.
“I was lucky enough to tour with him to England with the Australian one-day team a few years back when he burst onto the scene.
“He's right up there as one of the quickest bowlers in the world.
“I'm just rapt that Pat is back on the park playing because he's too good of a person and too good of a talent not to be playing.”
“You always want to play against the best and he's definitely one of the best in the world.”
The 23-year-old made an instant impact on the test cricket scene at 18 years of age – taking seven wickets on debut against South Africa.
Ongoing injury, including several bouts of back stress fractures, have prevented the speedster from cementing his spot in the national side.
Cummins will be the fastest bowler seen at the ground since former Australian quick Brad Williams represented Western Australia against a local representative team in 2001.

Hussey also didn’t shy away from his ongoing cricketing rivalry with his brother, Mike, who retired after leading the Thunder to its maiden Big Bash title last season against the Stars, before being appointed as the club’s Director of Cricket.
“Every time Melbourne Stars play Sydney Thunder or whenever I play against him, I try to outdo him,” he said.
“It's good that he is still involved in the game because it would be a huge loss if he jumps out of cricket.”
