Young Australian paceman Pat Cummins heads the 17-man squad, which also includes England one-day international and T20 skipper Eoin Morgan.
Three academy players have also been included.
Among them is wicketkeeper Jay Lenton who gained selection after impressing on the club’s recent tour of New Zealand.
“It was a great phone call to receive obviously going to New Zealand was a great achievement,” Lenton said.
The Thunder clash with Hong Kong in Orange on Saturday.
