The playground transformed into a skate rink for an all-school competition on Friday, following the success of a lunch time ‘scooter crew’ piloted this year.
Chaplain Matt Hammat pioneered the program and said aside from a couple spills, the students had a ball.
“Some tricks were of a high degree of difficulty and I wouldn’t imagine there’d be a lot of year five students that could do that,” he said.
“It gets them in a good place to learn, so when they get back in the classroom they’re more engaged.
“I want to do as much as we can in the time we have to help them enjoy life.”
Students took home a range of prizes worth $500, supplied by the Full Cycle Albury and Nation Street and Surf Albury.
