Loved ones threw their collective strength behind Jess McLennan after the young Rutherglen woman was in a serious car crash, but she sadly died three days later.
2. SCHOOL MOURNS A ‘TRAGIC’ FATALITY
Five-year-old Sufian "Sufi" Ahmad died of a head injury in what Wodonga South Primary called a “tragic accident” at after school care when he fell on stairs in September.

A wave of support came for Brendan Farrell to receive an Australian of the Year nomination for organising a Hay Run from Burrumbuttock after the Queensland drought.
4. WOMAN FLOWN TO HOSPITAL AFTER FATAL CRASH
A man died and his wife was flown to hospital following a crash on the Hume Freeway near Wangaratta in March where a caravan rolled and left the couple trapped.
5. MAN KILLED IN INDUSTRIAL ACCIDENT
Lavington father-of-four Adrian Heber died stacking steel at Wodonga fabrication company SJ and TA Structural in August. WorkSafe was called in to investigate.
6. WATER PARK SPRINGS UP
News of a 50sq m inflatable water park on Lake Mulwala had plenty of people excited. Aquazone@LakeMulwala is now open until late April 2017.
7. TRAGIC END TO SEARCH
The body of missing mother of two Karen Chetcuti was found near Lake Buffalo in January. Her neighbour has been charged with murder and will appear in court early next year.
8. BORDER MEDICOS MOURN DEBBIE
The Border medical fraternity was reeling in May after the sudden death of West Albury obstetrics specialist Debbie Wass, 62, who ran an ultrasound clinic.
9. LJ TO BECOME MUM
Basketball great Lauren Jackson received great support when she confirmed her pregnancy via social media. She is due to give birth in February.
10. OILY TWIST
Motorists were at risk of skidding off the winding Tawonga Gap Road in October after a diesel spill. Police originally suspected sabotage, but later discovered it was an accident.
11. BEECHWORTH IGA FIRE
We had rolling coverage as firefighters battled a fire in the town's supermarket. A teenage girl was later charged with arson. The store is set to reopen in 2017.
12. BOMB THREATS
Rolling coverage provided updates as schools in Albury, Wodonga, Wangaratta and Yarrawonga were evacuated following bomb threats, but remained safe.
