Two large air tankers, two air cranes and three air attack supervision craft, as well as several other firefighting craft were stationed at the airport due to increased fire risk across NSW.
Emergency Management Victoria coordinated the deployment of the aircraft following a request from the Rural Fire Service.
“We support our neighbours from across the border and are ready to assist in any way we can as they face dangerous fire conditions,” Emergency Management commissioner Craig Lapsley said.
“We work as one applies not only in Victoria but interstate and nationally as well.
“NSW crews have assisted Victoria many times in the the past, and we are pleased to share our resources and expertise to work together more effectively.”
Wednesday was a day of severe or very high fire danger for much of NSW.
