The side tied with hosts Newcastle on four wins, but edged them out on net run rate to bring home the title for the first time since the event started in 1992-93.
Holbrook’s Eddie Keogh, who plays his cricket with CAW club St Patricks, was the only local in the team, but was in the middle to bring up with winning runs in Riverina’s final game of the carnival against Illawarra on Thursday.
The five-wicket win saw Riverina dismiss its opponent for just 92, before reaching the target five wickets down in the 21st over, with Keogh unbeaten on 24.
