Federation Voices Inc was formed on Friday and includes ex-councillors who have quit or been dumped from Federation Council's local representation committee since its creation when the two shires merged last year.
It has arranged an initial meeting with Albury MLA Greg Aplin with the aim of getting a further meeting with the NSW Local Government Minister.
Former Corowa mayor Fred Longmire, who was dumped from the LRC, is the group spokesman.
“We need to get Mr Aplin to understand the seriousness of the discontent across the two former shires,” he said.
“The LRC was introduced to assist in the consultation process between communities and council.
“The failure of the appointed committee has led to dismissals and resignations by disillusioned members who were frustrated by no resolve by either Mr Eden or Mr Gillard to provide a professional working structure as specified in the proclamation (of the new council).”
Other former LRC members to sign up to Federation Voices Inc are Alan Urquhart, Francesco Bruinsma, Ian Kreutzberger, John Doyle and Pat Bourke.
Former councillors Peter Day, Barry McFarlane, Dennis Smith, Joan Palmer, Mark Shields, Norm Wales and David Fahey are also on board.
Mulwala Progress Association chairman Robert Purtle and large-scale vegetable farmer Geoff Moar have also signed up.
The group will raise nine points of concern with Mr Aplin including events leading to Cleanaway getting the green light to lease council land for a proposed compost dump on the outskirts of Howlong and Mr Eden appointing Mr Gillard as general manager for a four-year term. It also has concerns about former Urana general manager Adrian Butler not being the interim deputy general manager any longer.
Mr Eden said electioneering by former councillors had started early.
“One thing I am certain of is I will leave the council in a lot better position than it was on May 11 last year,” he said.
“I am very confident of that.”
