The association earned a shot at the title by defeating Tumbarumba by eight wickets at Tumbarumba on Sunday.
Set a testing 6-176, Brocklesby chased down the target with 14 overs remaining thanks to fine knocks from top-order batsmen David Williams (39), Mark Kreutzberger (50), Mitch Koschitzke (35 not out) and Darcy I’Anson (57 not out).
“The pitch was a road,” Williams said.
“I thought our bowlers set us up as they bowled really tight and kept them to a reasonable total.
“It was a good win and keeps us in the mix.
“We had a good support staff in Allan Ofak and Trevor Merkel come up as every little bit of help counts.”
Brocklesby and District has brought a group of youngsters through the ranks in recent years and is reaping the rewards on the representative front.
Holbrook won the shield last season and will be difficult to beat on its turf wicket with several of Osborne’s stars expected to play.
