Through the Hot Shots program, the club gained the opportunity to meet with paralympic tennis champion Dylan Alcott before getting the chance to watch their tennis heroes compete.
Aged from five to 14 years, 20 Wodonga youngsters were among 1000 others from 22 Victorian clubs at the Open.
Wodonga Tennis Centre president Craig Farrar said the children got a lot out of the visit and praised the Australian Open for its dedication to the Hot Shots initiative.
“It’s a great program because it allows kids that don’t have the opportunity to watch the world’s best,” he said.
“It’s not something you get to do every day; the entire club is overwhelmed.”
Hot Shots is Tennis Australia’s official development program specifically designed for primary school-aged children between five to 12 years of age.
