Sarah Maclure did not wish to comment but a Melbourne man posted a Facebook status on Monday that has been shared more than 8000 times in which he described how her quick thinking helped save injured victims.

It was just after Dimitrious “Jimmy” Gargasoulas had driven up the Bourke Street hill and allegedly mowed down pedestrians when Mathew McGrath left a building to find people on the ground, including a semi-conscious woman lying with her face down.

“She looked like she had just been dropped there like a damaged toy, not a single limb was in a position you'd associate with normal,” Mathew said.

A tradie was trying to comfort the woman and it was then that Sarah, who was not on duty at the time, rushed to their aid.

“This time it would be the first person with a form of medical training, a student paramedic, Sarah Maclure,” Mathew said.

“She's the one pictured in the orange top, you see her frantically running between the injured helping best she can.

“I learnt from her that a 10-year-old was going into arrest.

“She was another true hero of the day.

“If I could see you again, I'd hug you for all you did to help that day. You were exceptional.”

Sarah attended to victims at the intersection of Bourke and Queen streets after Gargasoulas had allegedly ploughed into people all the way through the CBD from Flinders Street railway station.

He then continued down Bourke Street in a westward direction to William Street where he was shot in the arm by police and arrested.

Mathew stayed to help turn over the injured woman out of fears she would risk losing her legs.

“There was enough of us to support her along her body as we rolled her over, we did our best to do it gently, but pain was inevitable,” Mathew said.

”I now ... have a clear view of this injured ladies face.

“We looked at each other and I was instantly overwhelmed with appreciation of how tough a person you are. I don't think I could have been as strong.”
