Veteran John Brunner and Brendan Liddell are the best local hopes.
“Brendan’s probably our top player here at the moment, closely followed by Johnny Brunner,” tournament director Frank Harris said.
“But Johnny’s had a knee operation which he’s still just recovering from, but he’s about back to his top form.”

Two hundred and eighty players will contest the event over five categories, with the introduction of a D grade.
“We found that the number of players, it’s partly a social tournament and we had a number of players entering in C grade, who were just not up to standard at that level, which is still quite competitive,” Harris said.
Harris says a number of the local players will use the tournament as a lead-in to Country Week, which will be held in Yarrawonga next month.
The three-day tournament starts on Australia Day, with the singles semi-finals scheduled for Friday morning and the finals on Saturday.
