Jacka was a popular player and coach at Lavington, Henty, Balranald, Howlong, Wodonga Raiders and Rutherglen over the past two decades and it showed on social media with tributes flowing from across the country on Saturday.
“Was an absolute pleasure to have met and known you Karl Jacka. May you RIP great man,” former Howlong teammate Aaron Hoskin wrote.
Henty’s Paddy Murray wrote: “No matter what club you play for, hang your jumpers out for one of the greats who loved the game through and through”.
Lavington premiership player Adam Mathews, who is undergoing his own cancer fight, was among those to honour Jacka with a picture of a Panthers guernsey.
The #JumpersOutForJacka tribute to Jacka follows a similar theme to the #PutOutYourBats phenomenon following the death of Test cricketer Phillip Hughes in 2014.
