Tunes on Tuesday is a series of lunchtime concerts to be held at St Matthew’s Church, Kiewa Street, every second week throughout the year.
Organist Allan Beavis presented works by composers including Bach and Handel at the inaugural event on Tuesday.
The Scots School Albury will perform excerpts from Mary Poppins on February 14 while Border organist James Flores is offering a recital each month as part of the series.
Father Peter MacLeod-Miller, of St Matthew’s, said people could bring their lunch to eat while listening to the concerts, which would include a retiring offering to help with expenses.
“We like to think we have an open venue for every person who’s committed to musical excellence of all ages and all styles as well,” he said.
Dr Beavis said the church’s Canadian pipe organ was a very good instrument.
“It’s recognised among organ circles right throughout Australia,” he said.
