Miss Bennett, who has multiple sclerosis, on Thursday paid the remaining $37,000 required for the stem cell procedure in India, although fundraising will continue for airfares and incidentals.
Her mother Gail thanked all supporters of their cause, especially the unknown benefactor who dropped in cheques to The Border Mail.
“He’s some sort of special person, I really believe that,” Ms Bennett said.
Miss Bennett’s departure date, originally in March, now depends on a final medical appointment in Melbourne.
“They’re just worried about her blood count being a little low,” her mother said.
“If we get the all clear from him, we’re going ... if not we postpone it for a month.
“It’s only four weeks and it’s for her benefit.”
