The tournament is timed to give teams match practice leading up to the under-18 and 16 Victorian Country State Championships.
“It’s the biggest tournament held in Wodonga,” director Nic Conway.
“We get around 1500 athletes playing from Country Victoria and southern NSW.
“It’s absolutely huge for the region.”
Players from Swan Hill, Mildura, Griffith and Tumut will take part, along with some of the Border’s best youngsters including Steph Gorman and Casey Ardern.
The pair were recently named in preliminary state under 18 and 16 squads.
“There will be some fantastic players in action,” Conway said.
About 60 referees will be involved over the three days.
Matches get underway on Friday evening and will be played at Wodonga Sports and Leisure Centre, Wodonga Middle Years College Huon Campus, Lauren Jackson Sports Centre, The Scots School Albury, Victory Primary, St Monica’s Primary School and Southern Rise Stadium at Wodonga South Primary School.
