Sue Harper was solid all day as Dodgers snared three tiebreak sets to claim the bragging rights, four sets and 42 games to two sets and 41 games.
Two dominant sets from Jenny Wiltshire helped Wodonga Tigers to a hard-fought five-game victory over Thurgoona Jade, despite an unbeaten display from Jo Simfendorfer.
A three-set haul from Sally Bulle set up Forest Hill’s four sets to two triumph over Wodonga Larrikins.
In the men, Forest Hill Blue had the better of the close sets against club mates Galahs, going on to record a five sets to one win.
Scott Stoll was unbeaten, with back up from Marcus Busch and David Lake, as Rodney Wurtz and Mal Lieschke pinched the final doubles rubber for Galahs.
With Brock Dixon firing, Thurgoona Jets easily accounted for Wodonga Bulldogs, while SPD was too good for Forrest Hill Eagles.
In section two ladies, Cassie King helped Uiver Park to victory, four sets to two over SPD White.
Maggie Brawn was the standout on court in Glenly’s 4-2 salute over Scots Black.
Wodonga Diamonds outplayed Forest Hill.
In the men, Wodonga Bushrangers recovered from an early deficit to finish with a six-game buffer against Forest Hill Diggers.
John McVean played an outstanding singles match then combined brilliantly with Steve O’Connell, Sam Ebert and Mick Robin to dominate in the doubles.
Lachlan Graetz and Chris Wood were best for Diggers.
A tough tussle between SPD and Forest Hill Blues saw the former snare the points by seven games.
Paul Frauenfelder claimed three sets for the winners, with Joel Schoff, Shane Tyas and Rory Parnell contributing, while Peter Murphy was the standout for Blues.
After sharing the singles rubbers, Forest Hill Wombats stamped their authority against Thurgoona Sharks to triumph four sets to two.
The remaining match saw Sacred Heart have the better of the close sets, before completing a seven sets to one victory over Albury.
Wodonga Pirates were out of the blocks quickly in their section three encounter with SPD Red, before claiming a 4-2 victory.
In section five, Forest Hill Magpies’ Darcy Penny, Taj Murray and Peter Travassaros did their best work early, holding off a fast-finishing Forest Hill Cats, before wrapping up a narrow two-game salute.
Junior coaching and pennant at the grass courts continues on Saturday morning with registration from 9.15am for a 9.30am start.
