Newcastle-based Sally Coddington was the guest of SiTE Disability Services which will be an NDIS provider.
The NDIS started in the Hunter region in 2012 with Ms Coddington a former chief executive of a disability services provider before becoming an NDIS consultant.
“My ultimate objective is to alleviate anxiety,” she said.
“It's real, but based on a lot of misinformation because it is such an emotional issue.
“My message is seek information from trusted sources and SiTE is one of those trusted sources.”
She said the NDIS aimed to give disabled people a normal life within the community, but attitude remained a major impediment.
“People have low expectations of people with a disability because attitudes and beliefs are deeply held,” she said.
