Murray River Quilters donated $2020 to UnitingCare Wodonga’s emergency relief program recently.
UnitingCare Wodonga agency manager Naomi Jansen said the group wanted to contribute money towards food containers used at the centre.
Ms Jansen said it was a welcome donation given rising demand for emergency relief.
“We go through 300-plus meals a week in emergency relief on the Border,” Ms Jansen said.
“At the moment it’s even up to 500 meals a week.
Wodonga TAFE can make up to 375 meals a day for the program.”
A cross-border group, Murray River Quilters raised the money through a combination of raffles and donations.
The group meets at Glenecho Community Centre in Albury on the first and third Saturdays of the month from 10am until 4pm.
