The race has been narrowed down to three, with Yackandandah leading by less than a point from Kiewa and a tick over three points from Mount Beauty.
Roos’ captain Nathanael Dudley said confidence is high among the group heading into the final round of the season against Wodonga, after a dominant display last weekend.
“We could have went for the outright against Bethanga, but we felt batting the full day was more beneficial for us,” Dudley said.
“It gave us more overs in the middle before finals.”
While finishing top guarantees Yackandandah a double chance, Dudley doesn’t see it as a big advantage.
“Anyone from first to sixth could beat anyone on their day,” he said.
“We would be a little bit disappointed (if we lost top spot), but if it happens it happens.”
The minor premier will take on the sixth-placed side, second faces fifth, while third and fourth meet, with the highest ranked of the three losers staying in the race.
Dudley revealed the side will be at full strength with the return of the club’s quickest paceman, Daniel Atwell.
“We’ll be treating this match like a final,” Dudley admitted.
“It’s good to have him (Atwell) back in because he’s bowling fast at the moment.
“He bowled really fast against Barney and got the ball in good areas, so it’s great to have him back on the eve of the finals.
“We can’t rock up and expect things to happen, we’ve really got to be on our game.
“After the Kiewa game we really knuckled down as a team and tried to focus on the basics after the batting collapse against them.
“Since that game, we’ve really put some partnerships together.”
Second-placed Kiewa takes on fourth-placed Eskdale in another contest that could have big repercussions on the final ladder.
Mount Beauty host Dederang in a hugely-important local showdown, with the Power a chance to go top after its outright victory against Wodonga last weekend.
Baranduda will look to improve on sixth place with a good performance against Bethanga, while Barnawartha-Chiltern and Howlong will play for pride.
