The Roar registered a comfortable 3-0 victory at Shepparton against Middle Park on Sunday to progress to the second round of the national competition.
Tyler Seabrook scored Cobram’s opening goal early in the first half and the lead was doubled at the break when Marc Startari expertly chipped the goalkeeper.
Startari found the back of the net again in the second half to secure the victory and see his side progress deeper into the tournament.
Cobram was bundled out of the FFA Cup in the first qualifying round last year and is hoping to continue its impressive run.
In what was a mixed weekend of results, AWFA clubs Twin City Wanderers and Myrtleford Savoy were both eliminated from the tournament.
Wanderers went down 5-2 to Trugania Hornets SC, while Savoy were edged out 1-0 by Ringwood City.
An early goal was all it took for Ringwood to book their spot in the next round of the FFA Cup.
Myrtleford started slowly on the synthetic surface, but found their rhythm in the second half, and, once Ringwood were reduced to ten men on the hour, they remained on the front foot without generating a meaningful shot on target.
A missed penalty summed up their afternoon and saw Ringwood advance into Monday’s draw.
Cobram will face a huge challenge when it takes on Geelong Rangers in round two on the weekend.
