Going into the event ranked number three in the world, Willett defeated hometown favourite Ankur Mittal with a world record score of 75.
“It was really good to come out and win the first World Cup of the year. It’s great to start 2017 on a high,” Willett said.
The New South Welshman has had an outstanding 2017 so far.

He was named Shooting Australia's Male Shooter of the Year for the second time in a row and has now broken the previous world record in the first event of the ISSF World Cup Series.
“I’m looking forward to the next events and the 2018 Commonwealth Games,” Willett added.
Shooting Australia CEO Damien Marangon was delighted with Willett’s impressive performance.
“James has established himself as one of the best Double Trap shooters in the world,” Marangon said.
“What a wonderful start to the year for him.
“James is one of the most diligent and hard-working athletes in our sport and this result is a testament to his work ethic.”
With Penny Smith’s gold, Anton Zappelli’s bronze and a first World Cup finals appearance for Dane Sampson, Australian target shooting has made an incredibly strong start to 2017.
