Big Reedy Lagoon State Game Reserve, 8 kilometres north-west of Yarrawonga, will be closed to hunting due to a large number of Western Great Egrets.
Game Management Authority chief executive Greg Hyams said closing wetlands during duck season protected threatened species.
“It’s part of our shared responsibility to ensure that hunting in Victoria is conducted respectfully and responsibly,” he said.
Victoria’s 2017 duck season runs until June 12.
