Wood turns 48 next month, yet he was the only player to take more than five wickets, with a stunning 6-67 off 33 overs.
“He was fantastic, he was really the workhorse for them all day,” Jaensch said.
“He showed a very big heart, he was ‘Woody’ mate, you always know you’re going to get a battle with Steve Wood.”
Wood didn’t play between round five and 11 this season, and had taken seven wickets at 17.42 in his previous six games

Meanwhile, an Eagles’ veteran also played a crucial role.
Mick Spiteri hadn’t played for seven weeks since injuring his hamstring, but he snared the key wickets of Matt Armstrong and Sahib Malhotra.
“Mick is the ultimate team man and we spoke to him about the role he had to play, and he played that role perfectly,” Jaensch said.
“We asked him to bowl outside off-stump and to bat at four for us.”
