A dominant second stanza from Olive Cribbes and Kelsi Williams gave Aces an advantage throughout the afternoon, which they maintained to record a narrow two-game victory.
Larissa Williams and Ellie O’Neill gave good support, while Bree Poole and Alyce Gardiner were solid for Scots.
In section two, Scots Black recovered from the loss of the first set to defeat the more experienced Uiver Park, 4-2.
An unbeaten Phoebe McCrabb was key, while Brenda Huckstepp was a two-set winner for Uiver Park.
Wodonga Diamonds had the points in the bag after four sets against SPD.
Amy Lairson and Sandra Langford finished with three sets, while Shellie Graham and Tracey Parnell snatched the final rubber for SPD.
Two tie break sets went the way of Albury to help them to a 6-2 triumph over Forest Hill Diggers in the best of section two men’s action.
Graeme Barnard and Paul Grover were outstanding all afternoon.
Forest Hill Wombats were well on track early after singles wins to Sebastian Blac and Hayden McIntosh against Forest Hill Blues.
Sean Pillay and Greg Tuck performed well, with Peter Penny strong for Blues.
Sacred Heart won three sets in tie breaks, which paved their way to a 7-1 victory over SPD.
Travis Prater and Brendan Hoffman were unbeaten for the winners, while Joel Schoff and Matt Graham salvaged the final rubber.
Wodonga Bushrangers completely outplayed Thurgoona Sharks.
A three-set haul from Graham McNicol led the way for Glenly Maroon, defeating Albury/East in section three.
Jim Cannon, Henry Parker and John Cannon contributed to the four sets, 39 games to two sets, 37 games victory.
Wodonga Pirates battled hard in their 4-2 salute over Glenly Gold.
Pirates’ Craig Farrar was unbeaten, with Glenly’s Geoff Hubanic a two-set winner.
Section five men saw Forest Hill Swans shake off a determined Scots Navy to claim victory by four games.
Jack Kelso and Jack Lidgewood combined well in the final doubles rubber to seal the win, with good support coming from Junior Turton.
Three sets from Ethan Haberfield helped steer Albury Cats to a 4-2 win over Albury Hawks in section six.
Hafiz Andrews was the standout in SPD Orange’s triumph against Albury Tigers, while Lachlan Graham was the star in SPD Purple’s victory over Albury Junior Bunch.
The bronze junior series Rex Hartwig Cup will be played from April 8 to 11 at the Albury grass courts.
Entries will be taken until midnight on March 29.
The 103rd Albury Easter Open will be staged from Friday, April 14 until Monday, April 17. Online entries are open until April 3.
The AMT, under 18s, 14s and 12s are all part of the silver series of events.
