YARRAWONGA will be treating Saturday’s clash against Melton South as a full dress rehearsal with more than 30 players jostling for round one positions.
Only Logan Morey (knee) and Drew Barnes (cut foot) are sidelined on the eve of the Ovens and Murray season.
Co-coach Damian Sexton said the competition for spots was hot after impressive practice match performances against Lavington and Therry Penola.
“This is our third game and there is a fair bit of competition for spots,” Sexton said.
“We have had a fairly good pre-season.”
Sexton expects former Pigeon premiership star and Melton South coach Brendan Fevola to play at J.C. Lowe this weekend.
“I hope he does,” Sexton said.
“If he’s going to play a practice match I would say this will be it because he loves Yarrawonga.”
Albury meet Heidelberg at Albury Sportsground on Saturday while Myrtleford host Corowa-Rutherglen.
