Burdett fired rounds of 68, 62, 67 and 67 to finish three strokes behind Daniel Pearce and Matthew Millar.
The former Yarrawonga-Mulwala Golf Club Resort trainee finished 16-under after playing in the final group for the last two days of the championship.
He is coached by Evan Droop and is on his first year on tour.
Burdett won last year’s Western Australia Trainee Championship by four shots and made a dream start in the Australian Open at Royal Sydney.
He shot 68 and 72 before fading in a field which included Geoff Ogilvy, Adam Scott and Jordan Speith.
Pearce, of New Zealand, won Sunday’s title after a gripping three-hole playoff.
Pearce claimed $18,750 in prizemoney and is now 20th on the PGA Tour of Australasia Order of Merit.
The win gives Pearce exemption on the tour or the remainder of this season and 2018.
"I haven't been exempt going in to a year before so it really helps,” Pearce said.
“Winning is winning though.
“It's awesome for the confidence.
“Hopefully I can build on this and have a really good year and jump on to a main tour somewhere."
Meanwhile, Border and North-East young guns Frazer Droop, Zach Murray and Liam Grandsen played in Commonwealth’s 5-2 win over Royal Melbourne in Golf Victoria’s division one pennant on Sunday.
Droop defeated Matias Sanchez 5-4 playing at No.1, Murray accounted for Darcy Brereton 5-3 playing at No.3 and Grandsen brought down Josh Hetherington 4-3 playing at No.4.
