Wild weather on Monday night and Tuesday caused havoc on the roads, including with one car which crashed into a fallen tree at Staghorn Flat.

A tree was down on Yackandandah-Wodonga Road about 10pm, causing the car to crash.

Luckily the female driver was only travelling at 60 kilometres per hour due to the poor conditions. Police, CFA and SES crews attended the the scene.

The driver did not sustain any serious injuries and although the car was damaged, it was able to be driven away.

Wangaratta received 14.4mm of rain overnight between 10pm and 7.30am, then more than another 10mm on Tuesday, but the Albury rain gauge was not registering the city’s rainfall.

The Bureau of Meteorology has issued a severe weather warning for the North East on Tuesday night and early Wednesday, which could result in heavy rain and flash flooding across Wodonga and Wangaratta.

Anyone who needs assistance during a storm can call the SES on 132 500 or triple zero for emergencies.
