This year’s event is an eight-kilometre fun run starting and finishing near the Mitta Mitta Canoe Club rooms at Noreuil Park, following the Murray River.
The Cumberoona Run started out as as the River Run and in 1992 and became the Festival River Run as part of the Festival of Sport.
It later became the Cumberoona Run when runners raced the paddle steamer.
Event organiser Bill Pearce said it was a huge success, but river levels in early autumn determined whether the boat could be a starter.
In recent times, the start has been relocated from the old boat ramp to the other side of Noreuil Park to make better use of the walking paths to Horseshoe Lagoon.
The only year when it wasn't held on the banks of the Murray was 2007 when it was held on the newly constructed Hume Freeway to celebrate the opening.
Start time is 10am with presentations at 11.15am.
