Trio Adam Pica, Brett Naylor and Travis May joined Melbourne frontman Will Jova and Damon Stone and Paul Marrett.

Pica said Jova had fronted an INXS tribute band in the past and wanted to start a new band in 2016.

He said the musicians got together for the first time about nine months ago to form X – The INXS Show.

“We wanted it to be the most authentic sound we could,” he said.

“INXS was an amazing band; the songs are not hard songs but the arrangements and the way they layered the music, that’s the big challenge.

“But we’re all excited about what’s going on.”

Pica said X – The INXS Show had already performed twice in Melbourne and at the SS&A Club in Albury.

“We got 450 people turn up to the show at the SS&A Club in October,” Pica said.

“It’s incredible the response we’ve already got for the band.”

X – The INXS Show performers are all professional musicians, who have toured nationally and internationally throughout their careers.

Jova (as Michael Hutchence), Stone (guitar and saxophone), Marrett (drums), Pica (bass), Naylor (guitar) and May (keyboard) have collectively been involved in international publishing deals, ARIA award-winning bands and television appearances.

Marrett is also a member of Melbourne cult classic rock band Electric Mary.

X – The INXS Show will perform for a Rocking Radelaide Tour on March 31 and April 1.

“We’ve got two shows coming up in South Australia and then we’re off to Western Australia in May,” Pica said.

“A Sydney tour is on the cards in future.”

X – The INXS Story will play at the SS&A Club on Saturday after guest band the Brent Shirley Band at 9pm.
