The five-year-old was one of the few horses to make up considerable ground from back in the field on the Gold Cup program and trainer Kym Davison confirmed the Wagga feature in May was firmly on the radar.
Overdue is also exempt from the Wagga Cup ballot after his Albury Mile win last Sunday.
The gelding's Tom Patton Cup win at Wagga three starts guranteed him a start in one of the strongest Albury Cup fields of recent times.
"At the 200m he was still coming and I thought we're a chance here," Davison said.
"I would have been happy with top six and with the way the track was racing today hardly any horses were making ground out wide.
"He is a one-trick pony and has to be ridden that way.
"I don't think Wagga will be any harder than that race so we would be silly not to head that way."
